Urban Fantasy

Urban Fantasy is a very hot writing trend/category at the present time. I have a dark urban fantasy series that I'm conducting research on right now.

My question to writers and readers alike, what would you like to see in urban fantasy that you haven't seen yet? What are you tired of seeing in UF? What elements would you like to see added or eliminated?

I'd like my lurkers to answer this as well. I'm not going to write something that caters to any ideals, but I am curious to see what everyone thinks in regards to this topic. :-)

Hint Fiction!

Robert Swartwood coined a wonderful term called hint fiction, which is a story of 25 words or less that suggests a larger, more complex story. The definition was taken directly from his website: Robert Swartwood.

W.W. Norton will publish an anthology of hint fiction in the fall of 2010. Oh, and anyone can submit for a chance to be published in the anthology with some well-known authors. For more details, check out his site: Robert Swartwood.

And if you are accepted into the anthology, please let me know. :-)

David's Contest!

David McAfee has had four pieces published by the horror magazine, Necrotic Tissue. I was featured in the July 2009 issue as well. My flash piece MARGIE was in that issue.

David also has a chapbook called THE SPIDER AND THE FLY which was released by Ghostwriter Publications in June. More information can be found on his website.

David is having a wonderful contest over on his blog: http://mcafeeland.wordpress.com/

You can win all kinds of great prizes. All you have to do is come up with a name for his new website. So head on over, and tell David that I sent you. :-D
